People are getting excited about The Heritage Mural Trail. BARAK’s mission for this project is to celebrate and inspire the positive self-expression of young people and to help in our efforts to revitalize neighborhoods in Harrisburg and surrounding areas. Artists are currently working with youth from across the Greater Harrisburg area and have already begun to create fascinating murals that focus on the diversity, innovation, and history that helped build the Capitol Region. These paintings will beautify and brighten the city and attract and educate tourists.

The Heritage Mural Trail will create a striking path not only through Harrisburg neighborhoods such as Uptown, Midtown, Allison Hill, and Shipoke, but through surrounding communities such as Steelton, Highspire, Middletown, and Penbrook as well as Susquehanna, Swatara, and Lower Paxton Townships.

The Heritage Mural Trail will give students access to real- world experience. Students will document, through a dedicated web site, their experiences during the Trail’s development. They will also produce a Heritage Mural Trail booklet, and a tour map tracing locations and historical details of the murals in order to build a cohesive experience for visitors to the region.
